How does fear and anger show in the somatic pathway?

Allan Abbass

Rage is not in itself tension in the straited muscles. The rise in complex feelings build tension in the striated muscle generally progressing from the top of the body (neck to hands) downward. Then the somatic pathway of rage rises through the tension and displaces it at each level, replacing it with energy, heat and violent urges. So there is tone in the muscles but they are not clamped, rather are free to move with the energy/heat activating them.
