Les participants à ce séminaire pourront se familiariser et intégrer à leurs pratiques thérapeutiques habituelles autant de concepts et d'interventions d'ISTDP qu'ils le voudront et qu'ils le pourront.
Les participants qui le désireront pourront aussi bénéficier de supervisions individuelles auprès de thérapeutes à Genève ou de « télésupervisions synchronisées » avec des thérapeutes en Suisse parlant le français.

Une des particularités et des forces de l' ISTDP et de ce séminaire, réside dans le fait que son enseignement et son apprentissage se font en grande partie basés sur les enregistrements vidéoscopés d'entretiens psychothérapeutiques des formateurs et des participants.

L'ISTDP est essentiellement le fruit des travaux du Dr Habib Davanloo . Depuis une bonne dizaine d'années en particulier, d'autres ont participé/contribué à l'ISTDP ou à des psychothérapies très proches, dont: David Malan,
Allan Abbas,Robert Neborsky,Leigh Mc Cullough, Patricia Coughlin Della Selva.

L' ISTDP est à la confluence de la théorie de l'attachement, de la régulation des émotions et des neurosciences; elle est supportée par des résultats d'études cliniques à long terme. Sur Wikipedia vous pouvez trouver une assez bonne description synthétique de l'ISTDP:
